Why I’m Creating This Club

 

Lately I’ve been feeling a little restless. Life sometimes feels like a treadmill.

 

I realized that somewhere along the way, I drifted away from the little creative projects that used to light me up. Life got busy. There was always something more practical to do.

 

Then yesterday, buried in the junk mail, I found a hand-addressed envelope in my mailbox.

 

For just a moment I felt that little spark of excitement.

 

“Oh! What’s this?”

 

It turned out to be nothing more than a routine letter from my landlord. But for those few seconds, I remembered what it used to feel like to receive something fun from a real person who had actually taken the time to send it.

 

Maybe I’m dating myself, but that used to “be a thing.”

 

And it made me realize… I don’t just miss getting real mail.

 

I miss slowing down.

 

I miss making things just for the joy of making them, and maybe most of all, I miss making new friends to share those little joys with.

 

And I have a feeling I’m not the only one.
